New Obama Foreign Policy Ad: It's The Judgment, Stupid
By Greg Sargent - February 29, 2008, 11:24AM

Compare and contrast. On the same day that Hillary released her new ad asking who you want in the White House when the red phone rings and your kids are safely sleeping, Obama comes out with this new spot, featuring retired General Merrill McPeak, who served during Desert Storm.

The spot seeks to argue that "judgment" is what's crucial in national security crisis situations, quoting McPeak as follows: "Lives depended on the judgments I made. And judgment is what we need from our next commander in chief."

McPeak recently created a bit of trouble for the Obama campaign when he referred to Hillary's infamous Tears Moment by saying that Obama "doesn't go on television and have crying fits." He later retracted the remarks and the Obama camp dissociated itself from them.

2. That is a great ad with a positive message.
That picture of Obama standing in front of the Whitehouse looks good too.

He looks like he belongs there. :)

3. Love it! Merrill McPeak was Air Force Chief when my husband signed up, and
I'm glad to see he's on Obama's team. He's a good guy.

4. What's his excuse for the poor judgment he's shown on Foreign Policy?

Obama's Hearing Problem
February 28, 2008
Obama's Hearing Problem

In December, I did some research into how Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton each used legislative machinery at their disposal in the Senate to get some sense of their "executive abilities". For some reason, I expected Hillary Clinton to be too busy for things like subcommittee hearings and Obama to be drilling in and learning as much as he could because his experience in federal level legislative affairs might be perceived as weak.

I found the opposite -- and discovered that Barack Obama, despite his role as Chairman of the European Subcommittee on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had not held a single policy hearing during his tenure. In the Environment and Public Works Committee Subcommittee on Superfund and Environmental Health, I found that Clinton had chaired and been actively engaged in a number of hearings during the same period.

When I discovered this, a number of Obama's own foreign policy advisers called me -- and one said, "I am as surprised as you are."

5. Stevie Clemons leans Hillary, so this is no surprise--he got a lot of attention
for his blog for pointing this out a couple months ago, and he's not going to pass up a chance to get more attention for what is essentially a non-issue.

7. This was pointed out months ago? And Obama STILL hasn't held a single hearing?
That says a lot about BO's commitment to his job.

8. Somehow, I don't think Obama jumps to a blogger's tune.

9. Or, jumps to doing the job he was elected to, either.
Maybe he's too busy looking for that yellow Present button he fell in love with back in Illinois.

10. Need a doer somewhere in the mix......
Maybe if Obama gets the nomination, he should think about Hillary as the vp so there'll be somebody to get the tedious, boring work of the people done.

11. I like the positive tone Obama's commercials set
He can say with it with pride, when he endorses the message.
