I had no idea Michael Steele is now moonlighting over at the Gray Lady! ;)

Never a Dull Day at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

The Obamas have said the White House is “the people’s house.” And no matter the crises, most days they continue to share the property with a diverse array of folks, from average Americans to foreign leaders and — coming soon — a former Beatle.

On Monday, between meetings with his defense secretary and the Lebanese prime minister, President Obama, a native of Hawaii, partied with his peeps at a reception for more than 200 to mark Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Recalling the group’s contributions, from the 19th century Chinese laborers who worked on the rails that bound the continent to Asian-Americans working in the economy and military service currently, Mr. Obama added, “this is personal to me” – naming his half-sister, Indonesia-born Maya Soetoro-Ng and her family, who could not make the event this year.

The rest of the post goes on to talk about various activities planned at the WH, including an upcoming award ceremony for Paul McCartney.

1. I missed that party!
Thanks, QA..this is interesting news..good thing we have a multidimensional President who can handle many crises at once and still be able to honor those peeps who have made such a contribution to our lives.

"On Tuesday, First Lady Michelle Obama will inaugurate “The South Lawn Series” of summer activities to promote physical fitness as part of her “Let’s Move!” campaign. The event also will reflect the Obamas’ promise to involve the other Washington – those who live apart from the governing class – in the White House more than ever before."

I knew Paul McCartney is going to be 68 on June 18th..two years older than moi.

2. "Yesterday... all my troubles seemed so far away...." :)
It must feel pretty good to be in the same generation as the Beatles. I've always lamented I was too young to make the most of "The Summer of Love." :)
