I feel so happy tonight!
I was late jumping on the Obama train, Edwards being my first choice, but I have drunk the proverbial Kool-aid (mighty tasty!), and I am firmly a believer. Tonight I have a feeling of such optimism... and it has been sooooooooo long since I have felt that way. Being a Texan, I have been battered by Bush for way too long. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and this time, it is NOT a train!

To those of you who have been working this campaign far longer than my newbie self, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I believe now that Obama should have been my first choice. I still love Edwards, but now I really do see the depth of meaning of this campaign, and I look forward to bringing it to the GE and whooping some Republican ASS!

2. Thank you for the welcome!
This change of heart - from supporting my second choice to seeing him as my real first choice - really started when I attended the Houston office grand opening last weekend. It was so great seeing the mix of people, and seeing people from political novices to old timers so excited! I felt the electricity. I haven't stopped thinking about it... and then the continually increasing momentum of tonight just sent me into a state of optimism that seems almost foreign because it has been so long.

4. I know what you mean!
Working in the Obama office here in MA and going to the rally here, I really felt like I was around honest-to-goodness Democrats and it was enormously energizing and hopeful!

Welcome from me, too!

8. I will do so!
I know that there is at least one more involved DUer who will hopefully be updating here too, and hopefully we will meet soon. I really look forward to meeting the staff who are arriving this week!

6. Once upon a time, Texas was a strong Democratic state....
If we can make people here see that the Rethuglicans have been lying to them to get them to vote against their own interest, maybe we can buid a Democratic stronghold here again, not just for this election, but for decades once again.
