I am just not getting over the flu fast enough. I am still exhausted, coughing terribly, and barely have a voice. I can't even sit in bed and make phone calls.

I am so disappointed

The biggest political season Texas has seen in decades, and I have to sit on the sidelines.

If there's anybody out there making calls and knocking on doors in Texas, do me a favor... go just a little bit father for me since I can't be there, please? :hangover:

1. Light a candle and curse the darkness
My brother and 2 nephews are in Houston, all are working hard and so I will put in a word for you.
Sorry you're sick, just take care of yourself. I live in Chicago but just got back last fall after spending a year in Marble Falls, was active with the Burnet county dems. I've been calling the folks I know down there but they seem to be going for Hillary.

2. Thank you.
I'm making a grocery trip on my way home from the doc after half a day of work, and then I am planning on curling up in bed with DU on the laptop and the TV remote control in my hand for the whole weekend.

3. Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well.
 Your heart is in the right place, even if your body won't cooperate. Rest up. Maybe you'll be up to making some calls on Monday and/or Tuesday.

5. You know how being sick and overtired tends to make one emotional?
I was sitting at work this morning, getting some sympathy from my office mate, and I said, "And I had to cancel all the activities for the campaign!" and I totally busted out crying. Then I felt silly and started laughing. I'm just a wreck. I'm so tired of being sick and tired :-(

And no amount of sleep is making me less tired.

Flu sucks.

4. Lisa, you've already helped win Texas!
With your heart and your spirit and all the work you've been doing.

Hope you feel better soon and can do something to be involved. No matter what, you were one of the first to make me feel positive and hopeful about the challenge there!

Take care of yourself!! :pals: :dem: :yourock:

8. You've already done it. I remember watching on Wisconsin-night
the all-network live coverage of Obama in the arena. Where Clinton deservedly got cut-off because there would be no concession, same as the week before.

I recall descriptions of the TX enthusiasm from people not inclined to like Obama of his supporters. Star-struck. Lemmings. Nieve. I thought, ya know... The Molly Ivins and Ann Richardson type ass-kickers aren't going to take too kindly to such descriptions.

10. I was there! :-)
I remember starting to get really tired... we'd been waiting since about 1pm. Then the chants started... at first it was fun, but then I was like, ENOUGH! LOL! Actually, I think that's why people have fainted at some of the rallies.... being tired, and then coached to chant - I actually got light headed myself! So finally he came out... I didn't realize that he was delayed because of Clinton being 50 minutes late, and then he finally went on instead of making us wait longer!

I was new to the campaign... I wasn't some cultist or lemming. I was someone who had wished Gore would run, then decided on Edwards, and found myself with another choice to make. As I stood in that rally, I listened to issues. I cheered for specific subjects - supporting the troops with decent care when they come home, not voting for a war based on lies, making college affordable, health care as a human right, etc. I wasn't cheering for a hollow celebrity. I was cheering because someone was saying the right things, and because for some reason, maybe instinct, I believed that he was telling the truth rather than lying to me. That last part... that is not something I have ever felt when listening to Hillary. She can offer me my heart's every desire, but it means little when I don't trust her to deliver.

12. I'm doing OK considering...
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 10:49 PM by Lisa0825
Still coughing and sniffling and snorting... but I actually feel less stressed about being sick since I got to the point that I knew I wouldn't be well in time to volunteer. At some point ya just gotta say "Oh well," and live vicariously through other people's updates.

That being said, I will be the Secretary at my precinct caucus if I have to hire someone to CARRY MY ASS to the location and blow my nose for me!!!

13. Rest up, Lisa.
And good luck Tuesday! And don't let HRC supporters intimidate you or push you around! :D
