Oh my, here is an interesting anecdote on Obama. LOL

Wright on Black Caucus Weekend

Posted by TOM BEVAN | E-Mail This | Permalink | Email Author

I was sifting through David Mendell's book on Obama, From Promise to Power, looking for any references to Reverend Wright that might help shed light on their relationship. The following quote doesn't do that, but it's interesting nonetheless.

In September of 2002, Obama traveled to the annual Congressional Black Caucus conference in Washington DC to try and drum up support for his potential '04 Senate bid. On page 160, Mendell describes an interview with Wright in which the Reverend talked about Obama's trip:

But what truly struck Wright from that meeting was Obama's astonishment over the black caucus event in Washington. It opened Wright's eyes once again to just how innocent and idealistic Obama could be about the world of politics.
"He had gone down there to get support and find out who would support him and found out it was just a meat market," the pastor said in an interview, breaking into a laugh. "He had people say, 'If you want to count on me, come on to my room. I don't care if you're married. I am not asking you to leave your wife - just come on.' All the women hitting on him. He was, like, in shock. He's there on a serious agenda, talking about running for he United States Senate. They're talking about giving some pussy. And I was like, 'Barack, c'mon, man. Come on! Name me one significant thing that has come out of black congressional caucus weekend. It's homecoming. It's just a nonstop party, all the booze you want, all the booty you want. That's all it is.' And here he is with this altruistic agenda, trying to get some support. He comes back shattered. I thought to myself, 'Does he have a rude awakening coming his way.'"

1. that is very Obama like
and i like it. i get a sort of comfort with him. like i know personally he will never let us down.

only someone like Obama could get all the positive stuff that has happened to him, but not allowed it to get to his head and ego. the reasons he decided to run in the first place are still where his heart and head is.

2. reading his book this week,
I give a lot of credit to his mom. Barack remembers her both making sure he knew how loved he was and how valued, and keeping him responsible for his actions and living up to his full potential. In Indonesia she was worried that he wasn't getting an education up to U.S. standards, so she got him up at 4 a.m. to work with him a few extra hours of study using a correspondence course.

5. Did you see the story about his BIL's bachelor pub crawl and the stripper?

'Why Obama came to my stag do'

By Paul Burnell
The One Show

Some years before Barack Obama began his run for the White House he found himself on a pub crawl in England helping give a traditional British send-off to a nervous bridegroom.
He is the man who could be the first black president of the United States. But for Ian Manners, Barack Obama is the guy who turned up for his stag night.
Ian was marrying Mr Obama's half-sister, whose mother Kezia Obama was the first wife of the senator's Kenyan-born father.

-snip-

Then in his 30s, Mr Obama found himself witnessing the British ritual of the pre-wedding humiliation of the bridegroom. Ian and his friends had just moved to a pub called The Rose, when the predictable happened.

"When we got there we had a couple of drinks. Then there was a bit of a commotion and they sort of directed me into a back room with one exit," recalls Ian.

"Lo and behold, a strippergram turned up. She was a St Trinian's school girl."

"As she started I saw that he was making an exit. He obviously saw my embarrassment because I was marrying his sister."

Soon afterwards the man, who could within the year be elected to the most powerful job in the world, decided it was time to return to his hotel room.

6. Maybe that's the reason
that all these black congresswomen are siding with Hillary now .

Seriously, can this be for real (I guess I am as naive as Obama was...)?
