SUPPORT THE US MILITARY MAJORITY! They do NOT support bush's war!
The Military Times newspapers published a massive new poll after questioning 6,000 randomly selected active-duty members of the Armed Forces. The results ran counter to much of the conventional wisdom -- barely one in three service members approve of the way the president is handling the war; a majority believe it was wrong to go into Iraq in the first place; and a plurality reject the notion of sending additional troops into the war.

Gee, guess the poor wittle MFing freeps will have to badmouth the majority of US troops now. Try doing it face to face with them, MFers.

1. Soldiers seem to question the accuracy of this poll
A gung-ho Marine I know claims that the poll is totally wrong, and that EVERY SOLDIER he knows is pro-Bush and pro-the war. I suspect he's just a totally brainwashed rightwinger. He says that the Military Times isn't even run by the military, so you can't trust it.

(Implying that ONLY the military can be trusted?!)

3. I know, I've heard that one too
From armchair warriors and real ones.

And the funny thing is that he doesn't realize that in that case, he may be fighting for *, not for the American People.

4. Front page of today's Stripes
No more welcome-home parties in cash-strapped USAREUR

http://stripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=43244

In response to continuing financial strains, U.S. Army Europe has canceled all welcome home celebrations for units returning from deployment through this fiscal year, halting the tradition of free food, rides and other community festivities for returning soldiers and their families.

In a memo dated Dec. 19, Installation Management Command-Europe director Russell Hall said that USAREUR leadership had discontinued the events until the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

...

...any kind of potluck for the (2nd Brigade) and its family members would have to be funded and supported by people in the community, he said.

5. Nice!
How much of the budget is that actually going to save? Why does it seem like the cuts are being made to things that Halliburton doesn't profit on?
