I grow weary of waiting for the Democrats to stop bush.
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 08:29 AM by Philosoraptor
Should I be more specific? Should I be more patient? Why is no Democrat saying what needs to be said? Why are there no screaming Democrats? All I hear is fancy oration and cheap talk, am I being too harsh here?

Someone needs to say it. It isn't just one sentence, but volumes. Someone needs to say, enough already, this will stop, now.

Does anyone disagree that we are in a crisis? Do you hear any of our representatives speaking like we speak here? Does anyone realize just how much danger we are now in?

Why are no Democrats screaming about bush and cheney and the fucking war? All I hear is gentle talk, talk that wastes precious time. Every second that this obscenity continues shames us all, every second that bush and cheney remain in power multiplies the danger by ten.

How many god damned trips to the green zone does a politician need to take? How many more of our sons and daughters are doomed to die miserably while we all sit around waiting for the Democrats to stand up and say it?

Is it a crime to be angry with the Democrats? Am I out of line here? Am I a lousy Democrat for not playing ball and making waves?

I want to hear the Democrats SCREAM BLOODY HELL, I want to see ACTUAL OPPOSITION, I'd like to see genuine resistance to these crazy bastards before they kill us all.

Sorry for the screaming.

1. I so agree
Come on, I know that it is good to try to get along- but our party has been passive too long. And that is precisely why W is where he is today- but it CAN GO NO FURTHER.

That is exactly why John Conyers and Jim Webb are so popular. They both have the balls to say what we all feel. We need more like them.

2. By doing nothing about the impending Iran strike, they are complicit
Obviously, there are a handful willing to stop this upcoming catastrophe.

By and large, they are giving lip service to the voters and going along with Smirk's war adventures, while mouthing platitudes about how 'oh, maybe this isn't such a good idea.'

You are absolutely right

3. You expect too much
These are politicians.

The Democratic Congress will do nothing except speak impassioned words and make wimpy threats, hoping all the while their words offend no lobbyist.

Hell yes it pisses me off.

4. F*ckin-A!! I swear their credo must be something like:
"Bad planning on the President's part does not constitute an emergency on ours."

Will they ever quit jawin' about Iraq and DO something about Iraq?

5. And Your Proposals Are?
And who would vote for it and it would be implemented how?

I don't know what information you've been hearing, but I've heard a lot of Democrats coming out against this war and regime. If anything there are too many voices...too many different ideas of what should be done. Some want to impeach, others want to cut off funding, others want to march...it's all good, but right now that's covering a lot of ground when focus is needed.

Somehow people are expecting Democrats to swing this country from one side of the political spectrum to the other in less than 30 days. They overlook all the "housekeeping" that is going on just to get an idea of where things are. Democrats have been out of the majority since '95 and totally locked out of power since '01...while we suspect a lot of things (many that are later proved to be true), there's so much out there to dig up and to get us a better understanding of where things really are.

The other day I was watching Henry Waxman and the Global Warming hearing...very important and very revealing. While watching I got antsy as well...thinking about all the things this man can and will be investigating. This was just a warm-up for what's to come, and at least its a start...a better scenario than things were one year ago. Next he'll dig into the war profiteering and other scandals. It truly will be a drip, drip, drip as he turns over a rock garden of Repugnican corruption...but this doesn't happen overnight.

People are angry, but to a limit. At least enough of them were angry enough to kick the Repugnicans out in '06 and are headed to do even greater damage to them in '08. There's anger when people discuss Iraq as opposed to either support or ignorance like we saw a year ago. That anger will get louder as this invasion turns uglier. If anything, booshie is helping force the issue with his insane "surge" (which should be stopped but won't...he's got the bucks to do it) because it will bring closer the day of reckoning when the last remnants of his support will evaporate and give Democrats a strong hand in cutting the funding and throwing up other roadblocks at this regime later this year.

Many of us have screamed for years...and in the wilderness. It took us lots of hard work to at least get a fair enough hearing to help turn out Repugnicans last year. Our main points have been made and proven...the truth has always and will be on our side...the game now is on the other side of the fence...it's the Repugnicans now who are soul searching (in the few souls they have) and when they finally see their party totally imploding is when the real outrage will be heard.

Cheers...

8. Why Not?
As I was told as a kid, "don't bitch, if you can't come up with a solution". I have an idea of what you'd like to utter and probably echo thoughts I've had many times as well...but I'm talking about realistic things that can achieve positive results. Torches and pitchforks only go so far...right now we need a more focused approach both at seeing where things are and how to enact real change in the most expedient way.

Cheers...

6. Screaming will likely do nothing to move the republicans they need to pass anything
BINDING.

Screaming may drive them into their own presidential defender camp, leaving us with nothing but protest legislation which, in the end, if successfully obstructed, will amount to nothing but a protest.

12. I suppose, unlike the chimptator, Congress feels...
constrained by the Constitution. It's a lot easier when you can just say Democracy go fuck yourself, I'm going to do whatever the hell I want.
