top of Google news: climate Scientist who stood up to UN "Junk Science"

http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=ae9b984d-4a1c-45c0-af24-031a1380121a&k=0

"As perplexing, none of the participants in that press conference were known for their hurricane expertise. In fact, to your knowledge, none had performed any research at all on hurricane variability, the subject of the press conference. Neither were they reporting on any new work in the field. All previous and current research in the area of hurricane variability, you knew, showed no reliable upward trend in the frequency or intensity of hurricanes. Not in the Atlantic basin. Not in any other basin."

anyone have any insight into this?
What is the National Post?
Anyone know more about this story?

There are far smarter people than me who frequent the Canada forum. If you want to know more, I suggest you ask there.

2. Substitute the words "New York" for "National" Post and you'll get the idea . . .
It's Conrad Black's puppy training sheet.

6. For starters - selective use of "Deniers"
The expert cited in the article, Christopher Landsea (great name for a hurricane expert) is widely quoted by Republicans to deny the link between recent destructive hurricanes and warming, but they largely ignore his overall opinion on greenhouse gases and climate change.

"Although Landsea disputes the link between global warming and recent hurricane activity, his views on the larger issue of global warming are in broad agreement with the scientific consensus. Landsea agrees that "we certainly see substantial warming in the ocean and atmosphere over the last several decades on the order of a degree Fahrenheit, and I have no doubt a portion of that, at least, is due to greenhouse warming."
