Biden's Ignorant Comments About Obama Uncovers Another Form of Racism

Biden's ignorant comments about Barrack Obama has inadvertently open the door on the kind of new age racism that we see today. First, there's the obvious ignorance of Biden's comments, but there's another form of subtle racism that no one is mentioning.

It's condescending to praise to Barrack Obama for his articulation, but it's equally as insulting for there not to be ANY criticism of Bush for his in-articulation. If any female, racial, or ethnic minority candidate spoke as poorly as Bush, the media would openly dismiss said candidate for consideration as leader of the free world.

Bush can barely form a coherent speech, and he has clearly shown his ignorance on major national and international issues since his candidacy in 2000. Yet, no one in the media dares to question his competence for the job to this day.

This same media is now asking if Obama or Hillary have enough experience to be president, yet in 2000, the oft-repeated phrase, "Bush is the kind of guy you'd like to have a beer with", was the standard that Bush had to meet in order to qualify for president.

If you doubt women or minorities when they say that racism and sexism are still alive today, just look at how the media is treating Obama candidacy vs. Bush's and you will see it all there for yourself.

It's media horseshit--the man isn't really just inarticulate, he's a babbling nitwit.

Eugene Robinson's article, cited elsewhere on this forum and in today's WAPO, does make some important points about certain phrases that are painfully true. Those fucking "code words" that say one thing and mean another--articulate, easygoing, a regular guy, clean-cut....all "secret handshake" phrases that signal that old white men won't feel TOO uncomfortable--some might feel "Sammy hugging Nixon" uncomfortable, no matter who the Black person is, but they won't freak out, now, will they?

It's such a waste of energy, all this hatred and fear and concern over culture and skin color. Imagine what we could do if that shit just ceased?

I remember that one and thinking at the time who would even want to touch Nixon. Bush the grandson of a Nazi supporter kissing Joementum was hard to take, I have heard it said we should not hold descendants responsible for the crimes of their ancestors. On the other hand Bush has committed his own crimes.

Biden knew what he said and I believe he meant it. Obama clearly won the exchange with Biden as he did in October of 2006 when Bush washed his hands with Purell after a handshake with Obama. Obama also got a squirt of hand cleaner from Bush.

2. The media has actually been rather supportive of Obama, which

has made me a bit nervous. Can you imagine how they would have attacked John Conyers (my favorite Member of Congress) if he had decided run for President, questions of age aside?

As for its treatment of Bush, I think it's more a matter of the corporate media's support for him as a fellow corporate fascist than a matter of the color of his skin. Otherwise Gore, Dean and Kerry would have been given passes as well.

with their past support of Powell as a GOP candidate at this stage? I think there is in many ways, though Lord knows what the rationale is.

5. Yes, I think there is. Iran/Contra should have put an end to his

career; but, not surprisingly, it did not hurt him at all with the corporate media. In fact, it probably reinforced their belief that he was "dependable," one of them.
