My Iranian hairdresser/Iran/USA
She has been my hairdresser for 8 years here in San Diego and I love her dearly. I saw her yesterday when she cut my hair and we whispered together about the crises on our hands and over the years we have discussed much, since she born in Iran and I was born in England. Her parents spent the holidays here in San Diego with her, and they flew back to Tehran 3 weeks ago, and she told me that they were not worried about this country starting WWIII because China and Russia would put a stop to it and hopefully the EU would take the side of Iran.... and I said oh shit, you cant depend on Tony Blair, and she said to me ' come on di' the UK does not want to be part of the EU anyway. She is right, but this does not make the problem go away. I asked her if her mum and dad was given a problem coming into the US on their Iranian passports and she told me no. Incidently, her dad was a retired col. in the Iranian military.
Yes, she has her green card and she travels through the UK and the EU every year, but she has not been home to Iran since she left.
In summary, she tells me no there will be no war between the US and Iran. I hope she is right, but we have this idiot in the Whitehouse.

1. I hope your friend is right -
because the neocon warmongers are certainly rattling the sabers right now. The "religionization" of Iran was at least partly due to US support of the Shah and his vicious tactics, just like our support of Saddam led to him being able to "murder his own people".

Until/unless this Administration is impeached and imprisioned (I vote for sending them all, from Shrub right down to KKKarl Rove) to the Hague), we will all be on pins and needles.

I'll add another candle for your friend.

And, welcome to DU :hi:

2. Thanks for sharing! I know a few people who have good friends who are
hair stylists, manicurists. etc.
I hope your friend is right, too.

3. Welcome to DU and I hope your friend is correct.
It's hard to say though with this madness in the White House.

5. Thank you - I can only hope that the "real people"
truly sense the whole situation, Bush seems to completely disregard the interests of the entire region including Europe when it comes to the consequences of his arrogance and bellicosity.
