yes, I know all the negatives - built by slave labor, land taken, etc., etc. and all the political stuff.

the Olympics are for the athletes. we watch and cheer them on.

I really dig opening ceremonies. to see what that country's artists, creators will come up with. and then watching the athletes coming in the stadium with their new fashion on athletic uniforms.

even with all the problems within the Olympics and within China - the OLYMPICS ARE A GOOD THING.

1. You are only going to see the US athletes unless you go in person

If you watch on television here, the biased focus is going to be on US participants.

I remember in the last ones there was some event getting ready to start and NBC found out that one of the athlete's mother and father had been killed a couple of hours before the event. They mentioned it and then went to a 15 minute piece about an American athlete who's sister's neighbor's grandmother's cat had died. They ended it with "Let's now watch and see if the American spirit can overcome tragedy again."

4. What an odd post
Surely boycotting Chinese Olympics would help send a message. People often put their own pleasures above other pressing issues, this seems to fall into that category.

And fashion. Wow that is superficial.
