The Obama campaign is preparing to introduce the woman who could become America's first black First Lady to the nation as soon as her husband formally announces his candidacy at a rally in Illinois a week today. Some advisers view Mrs Obama as the campaign's secret weapon.

Already, she has been crucial to his career. A native of Chicago's South Side, she introduced Mr Obama, born of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya and brought up in Hawaii and Indonesia, to mainstream African-American life.

I hope they aren't implying she is dead from the neck up like Laura or a stepford wife. Good grief if I was Mrs. Obama I'd be insulted by any comparison to Laura.

3. I never met Michelle Obama

but the little old women that volunteered for him here in SI that had met her, loved her. They said she was one of the added reasons they supported him as strongly as they did. Obama always spoke of her highly here and protrayed her as a woman who had her feet planted squarely on the ground. He said that when he began to get the big head from what others said about him, she would bring him back to earth by reminding him of his limitations or by having him take out the garbage.(something pickles should have done to bushie boy) :-)

Edited to add that he also said that she was his strongest supporter. but the impression I got was that she was his partner and they were equals, and that meant in decisions and needs being met. Their children were also made a priority. It has been said that she is afraid of someone trying to hurt (kill) her husband to stop him being elected president, and I don't blame her. There is a lot of hate out there and he is threat to them. I don't think they can minimumize him the way they have others.
