I know we can download our own, but that does not mean we shouldn't have at least one choice of Molly Ivins here on DU.

I saw this brought up on a post since her death, and I figured a Molly avatar would be forthcoming---alas, that is not yet the case--unless I have just overlooked it somehow.

avatar available to those who don't have the expertise to download their own.
Also, it is just from a "respect" standpoint, that we should have her avatar along with the other choices on DU.

I am worrying about a war with Iran, etc. I DO know what is REALLY important.

You do not know me or what I am about. I stood on our local street corners(in one of the most Conservative areas in the country--SW MO) BEFORE the Iraq war in protest and was harassed and threatened. I worked in ( then ) Sen Jean Carnahan's local office and BEGGED her to NOT vote for the Iraq War Resolution, to no avail. I have children and grand children, who's future I worry about every day due to the insanity of those in charge of this country. I DO know what to worry about.

personal avatars are only available to donating users. Ivins should be included with the standard avatar selections.

I also note there is no "official" KO avatar, nor are ALL the current Democratic candidates represented with an avatar. I know it is early, and there appears to be a plethora of candidates, but maybe Admin should start to take care of that, too. Kerry is NOT running this time---let's highlight those who are.

And we come to the real reason for the reactions. If the people who keep loudly insisting they don't care really didn't care, they wouldn't be posting in this thread. If it's such a stupid non-issue, why are you bothering posting here & insulting people over it? IMO, if someone posted asking for a Kennedy icon, for example, it wouldn't get this kind of hostility. It seems like some posters are pissed off that someone is asking for more female representation. "Sit down & shut up" seems to be the common theme.

77. Um, have you noticed my avatar?

I did it all by myself! A very proud moment, though being so lazy & dependent, it was quite a struggle. I made a personal one because there isn't any avatar of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, despite the fact that she is the most powerful Democrat in the country. This is not about whether someone can make an avatar, it's about wanting a little more representation of female Democrats. And indirectly, it's about wanting to change the atmosphere that permeates DU. I don't get how that "bashes" DU, any more than someone who wants a new DU group is "playing victim" or "bashing". It's not about insulting DU, it's about improving it.
