7. I'd love to see Donahue back.
That said, he's really lost a step or two, and I have a problem with the way the show was conducted on MSNBC. He was fine, but they bent over backward to try and bring conservatives on the show, often having all conservatives who ended up vying with Donahue for the whole show.

I think liberals that manage to get on any medium need to just promote liberal ideas, and stop this insane attempt to be "fair". You will not see fair on right-wing television, and you won't hear it on the radio. They even tell outright lies to promote ideas, and they don't bother to check their facts. With the few liberal shows that are on the air (Olberman, and Air America) I don't think we need to make any pretense. We don't need to lie. Truth is, liberalism has become synonymous with truth in the modern day.

8. West Wing!
I realize that was an entertainment show, but it also sent a message to people of "how things in gov't COULD be.

Absolutely I'd love to see Donahue & Grodin back, and I'd like to see a few clones of Olberman, but we also need some good entertaining TV shows, and the only one I can think of right now if Boston Legal, and an occasional Law & Order.

10. Say what you will about Roseanne, her show celebrated the working class of this country.
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 11:02 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
She made a show with which all of us who work for a living could identify. I don't see many of those shows, now.

Also, she snagged John Goodman and George Clooney for the show early in their careers. MKJ

33. I miss Steve Allen
back in the 1950's I sent a letter to Steve about a guest he had on the Tonight show from a Peace group. He took the time to write me and send me a couple of reams of articles from magazines & newspapers on various aspects of The Peace Movement. I was always impressed with the fact that he'd take the time to write to a San Diego high school kid and send all that information. I always liked the Political side of Steve Allen. Too bad he couldn't have had a political talk show (of course the comedy & music was good too). I miss him
