With all of this cold weather, try to think of/help out someone who

might be having a difficult time keeping warm today/this week. The elderly, the poor, the unemployed....they gotta be worried about what their heating bills will be with this deep cold snap.

Remember the homeless too. I think the shelters are in need of donations and help right about now - they're very busy. (I cook for one. Several of us volunteers are given recipes (casserole type stuff), we cook them at home and bring them over to the shelter in time for supper. I just mention this b/c it's a way to help if you don't have the time/stamina to volunteer more directly. All help/donations are appreciated).

2. Helped a shelter here in town

Tried to talk people into coming into the shelter. Those who didn't want to, mainly because of alcoholism, we gave 'em hats and gloves. Some of them at least have cars to sleep in, which isn't much, but is out of the wind.
on edit- Really and truly, please do what you can to help out. Most of us are fortunate enough to have nice warm places to live and decent clothing. And also remember, not all homeless are homeless by choice or alcoholism and mental illness.Some have no money because of joblessness or working for next to nothing wage wise. That could have been me or many other people. Keep that in mind. Thank you.

and thank you for caring. I'm retired and live alone in a drafty old house, but I can always take money out of savings to cover my heating expense. However, there are so many who don't have that option.

8. There are no homeless shelters in our county but we contribute through our gas company

to help out the needy with their energy expenses.
