I want to apologize for Dinesh D'souza
I want to apologize on behalf of people of Indian descent for having given you Dinesh D'souza.

He would have been the Indian who would have readily licked the boot of a British administrator in order to gain personal favor.

It's not fair to hold Indians responsible for him.

However, I do wish he'd apologize for himself. That much is owed.

Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 12:39 PM by senseandsensibility
I believe it was him; I tuned in part way through the interview. It was an interview with an Indian with a book out blaming liberals for everything. Thom tore him apart. He was not able to derfend his outlandish ideas.

R Tagore,

VS Ramchandran,
S Chandrasekhar,

the list goes on and on. It would take an awful lot of D'Souzas to balance that lot out.

13. Isn't he an American?
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 12:44 PM by JackRiddler
Did he immigrate as an adult? Or was he born in this country? Then in my book he's as American - more American! - than anyone who imagines they're special because their family came in on the Mayflower. More American than anyone except the (American) Indians.

I enjoy knowing he's not a European white person. That way he comes with his own built-in irony, something he otherwise lacks. (Unless of course his whole thing is just a schtick. Not out of the question - can anyone who writes a book be this dumb?)

58. Is this like the right wing Russians?
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 03:31 PM by JackRiddler
Though I don't know his background, has he got it in for some aspect of Indian culture or the system there?

Late adopters, converts, and immigrants upholders of a reactionary ideology are often among the worst. Like the Miami Cubans and all these Ukrainians and Russians in New York during the cold war, who don't care how rightwing they are in the context of their adopted homeland, because they've got their enemy abroad and that's all that matters.

Nah, this guy's rap is just tooo stupid. It's a business, as it is with Coulter.

my earliest ancestors to come to these shores were at Jamestown (a bit before the Mayflower)...doesn't make me any more of an American than someone whose parents emigrated from Poland after WWII. 23. He dated Ann Coulter and was engaged to Laura Ingraham.
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 12:55 PM by TahitiNut
He's an anachronism - a pretentious mental throwback who effectively styles himself a Brahmin. His perspectives are thoroughly riddled with notions of special birthrights and "exceptionalism." He regards himself innately 'right' and privileged, and associates with muscularity - a "might makes right" ideology. While he makes rhetorical noises subscribing to some transcendent morality, his 'morality' is one of a hopeless authoritarian.

His emotional development is arrested at the sophomoric stage - unable to connect with a fully human experience.

37. His gratitude obviously stems from being able to wield mindless dogma ...
... amalgamated with his Brahmin privilege, releasing him from the moral obligations that would accrue if he adopted a more complete cloak of caste responsibility. He's mining a rich vein of wealth, pandering to the bigoted right as a brown-skinned person who "knows his place" and properly serves the merchant class. In effect, he's a professional proof-texter - perverting all manner of historical lessons to the corrupt world view of those with insatiable appetites for power and wealth.

70. LOL! OK, maybe that's a stretch.
Forgive my apparent hyperbole, but frankly, I don't doubt that somewhere in the Great Plains, there is such an animal.

79. Asshilery knows no race, creed, religion, or gender.
It just is what it is--thinking and speaking out of a body part designed for something entirely different.

"I don't see race." When I see D'Souza, I just see another insane Repuke arsehole. :puke:

And that goes double for Ward Connerly! :puke: :puke:

78. My son is half Asian Indian and I love and respect my AI husband. Don't apologize--PLEASE.
A country who has given the world a beautiful and intelligent culture has nothing to apologize for.

D'nesh D' souza needs to apologize for himself for being a spineless, Kool-Aid drinking pathetic wimp.

87. Heard him on C-span for a few minutes last night. He uses
the word Liberal more than Rush Limpballs. Something came to me while listening to him talk, the Conservatives constantly criticize the Liberals inside the US, but their enemies outside the US are the Conservatives. He was going on and on about Muslim Fascists extremists and they have no freedoms in those countries and how they persecute other religions and how they hate America for our freedoms. The thought suddenly occurred to me Conservatives actually think Liberalism is good (outside) the US but (inside) the US a Fascist Christian Conservative is good and Liberals are bad?
