Yep. I just saw these on a van in my town. Is someone confused? Or am I missing something here? Brownback has spent the last 4 freakin' years cheerleading for the psycho's war, right? Now that Brownback sees that his stance on the war didn't work and his warmongering party lost the Nov. 7 election, he speaks out against it. We actually have people STUPID enough to buy into his crap? He's 'the religious right' so he's OK with them?

"Pray the Rosary for Peace on Earth"?????? and they're voting REPUBLICAN???(*&^%$#@ My heads going to explode! What will it take to open these people's eyes? sheesh!

7. Then I feel sorry for them.
Greedy, arrogant and bitter is no way to go through life.

2. Well, it sort of makes sense--
The general concept of "peace on earth" -- very popular, though when there's not peace on earth, it's not our fault, it's some savages somewhere who can't seem to live a civilized life and let our capitalism have its way.

Praying for peace on earth -- good way to seem to be in favor of it, but if it doesn't happen, it's not the person's fault, it's God's will. Sort of absolves a person from having to actually do anything.

Brownback supporter? Well, that's just the kind of person who'd see no problem with praying for peace rather than seeing our obligation to work toward it by not promoting it.

At some point I'm going to get a new bumper sticker up for sale that says, "Finish praying so you can start doing."

3. It's Opus Deit stuff, and Brownback supports it. No contrast here.

4. There are 2 ways to get peace
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 02:57 PM by JVS
1. Don't fight
2. Beat others into submission

Neither seems to work perfectly, but I think we could use a bit of #1 lately.
Perhaps the driver was praying the rosary for help with the #2 approach

8. I've met Catholics like this. Pope condemned war but they still like Bush.
I'd even ask them who has greater authority, Bush or Pope, and they'd say the Pope. But they still like Bush and his war.

9. Interpretation:
Pray for peace on earth - i.e., pray all those nasty Mooslims will convert to the true religion of Catholicism so that there can be peace.

Otherwise, kill the bastards and let them all go straight to hell. Thank you Jeebus!

13. That's the power of the abortion issue.
We lose a lot of religious voters based on that issue, and the Republican framing about liberals hating Christians.
