Will Republican Women vote for Hillary?

One of the strongest reasons for female Hillary supporters is the fact that Hillary is a female. But I was also wondering if this gender appeal reflects upon all US females?

Hillary has adopted a more centrist image in an attempt to appear less partisan; and I believe that her female supporters will never leave her, but does anyone think that she will be able to win over the Female republican swing voter?

There are many reasons to dislike Hillary - her support of the Iraq war, her DLC positions, etc. But these reasons may possibly appeal to republican women if they haven't been brainwashed by Talk Radio.

Also, what if the GOP nominated a woman for VP, like Libby Dole, or Condoleeza - probably not Dole because of her husband's losing streak karma. Would independent woman leave Hillary for the GOP?

The Key to the 2008 election will be the Male Swing voter, but the GOP might try to minimize the defection of female voters (aka, security moms).

And to be absolutly honest about it I know a lot of Democrats who have said they would not vote for her either. Maybe they would and maybe they wouldn't when it came down to the ballot box, but they sure don't like her now.

Voting for Hillary simply because she's a woman?

What if Condi were running, would we be asking if any Democratic women (or Democratic African-Americans for that matter) would vote for her simply because she's a black woman?

One would think that we would be voting for someone because we thought they were the best one to lead, not because of their sex, race, religion, etc.

7. You know that voters are often single-issue voters

and quite superficial. Voters often vote for people of the same religion, race, state, etc. as their only reason - mostly because they feel comfortable and feel a familiarity with that person based on their lives and personal struggles and history. I would think that many career-minded/independent women are attracted to Hillary because of this and that they share in the struggle of business women everywhere, just as African-american men and woman or Southerns find comfort in Obama and Edwards because they've shared in their life struggles. For Obama, although mixed, has succeeded despite facing racism and being a minority in school, work, etc.

They respect her toughness. Many also have nostalgia for Clinton competence. I also know many Republicans who are already gloating because they say Americans would never vote for a black or a woman. I think many Republican wives will vote for Hillary to spite their husbands.

and professional females may admire Hillary because they share a personal struggle to make it in a male dominated business world.

As I said earlier, its not just gender, race, or geography - but a shared sense of personal history and trust.

Southern men will find compatibility with Edwards; and shared regional concerns. For the same reason that southerners and mid-westerners distrusted a Northeast elite John Kerry, even though Kerry was correct on Iraq, the economy, etc. Yet most voters distrusted him, yet beyond logic trusted GW Bush.

With, Obama, even though he is mixed, he shares with other African-Americans a personal struggle overcoming racism in society, work, and life. They feel that he will care about issues concerning them.

For Hillary, female voters will expect her to carry about laws for greater Female equality and anti-discrimination, something similar to the family and medical leave act.

The GOP may try to neutralize female defections by having a female VP like Rice, Dole, or Kay Hutchinson. Thats a serious voting bloc since females outnumber men in the United States.

if they value party above gender; which is why I don't think Hillary can win Republican female voters. Hillary has been demonized by the Right, and I would be very surprised if GOP women voted for Hillary - because they have a lot of good reasons to vote against her.

But Hillary has moved closer to the center in her Senate career - which is why I think that she is trying to appeal to GOP women.

As for Edwards, I think southern GOP men will vote for him if he is the only Southerner in the race.
