Long shot call: I think the Pentagon *and* Congress will end Iraq occupation/war.

The Executive seems bent on staying the course.

The State Department seems co-opted.

Yet the rumblings in Congress and the Pentagon may well spell the end to this fiasco. As Congress looks to limit funding and set some time line for a withdrawal, some military personnel reiterate the assessment that this incursion is not "winnable".

Congress is increasingly bolstered by home town opinion and the Pentagon grows increasingly wary of a futile expenditure of personnel and material. Congress and the Pentagon, as well as the American public, know it ain't gonna work.

1. Well, Cabinet Member Gates over at DOD is a thinking man.
And those 22 GOP Senators whose seats are up for grabs in 08 are STARTING to feel the heat.

I tell people here, if you are represented by any of those Senators, let them know how you feel!

3. I'm kind of hoping congress
talks the pentagon into hauling these criminals out of our White House at gunpoint if necessary. A backroom deal like that would hopefully prevent a full military takeover. They'd just have to install President Peolsi. Bush/Cheney could be hauled away under their own MIlitary Commissions Act.

6. Whoa. I'm kind of hoping the two ends meet in the middle, as a reality check.
We remove our troops, wave goodbye as Bushco goes out in Jan. 2009 and we begin the work of rebuilding the fractures.
