On being had: Warner and Hagel voted against their own resolution.
Once again our leadership, as it were, has demonstrated that they do not understand the game they are in, don't know what the rules are, and most certainly do not understand what their position is.

Having worked with Republicans Haqel and Warner on a ridiculous watered down non binding irresolution that sort of was opposed to the war policies of this administration, our leaders had their feet swept out from under them by their supposed allies on the other side of the aisle. Again. How many times is this now? When will they get a fucking clue?

There are two steps that need to be taken.

1) defeat the next funding bill for the war. This is veto and filibuster proof.

2) bring up a binding resolution setting a date certain for the withdrawal of us forces from Iraq no later than six months from now. Let them filibuster something meaningful for a change.

There is one additional step: stop being used as a patsy.

2. LOOK: John Warner is the new Arlen Specter.
He's going to run in and grab issues only to turn them against the fucking lazy, sheepish, dry-powder Dems.

He pretended to have a problem with the surge only to assure it would be funded.

Specter pretended to have a problem with NSA spying only to make it "legal."

Don't forget: The next time John Warner stands up to do the right thing, he's only looking to fuck you in the ass with a tire iron.

3. The depressing thing about this to me
was the duplicitousness of Olympia Snow and Arlen Spector. They are GOP
"moderates". They lesson of their votes and those of Warner and Hagel are that there are NO GOP Senators that can be trusted to have the courage of their so-called convictions.

They are total hypocrites. There is no reconciling their prior statements and their votes.

We, as Dems, must learn from this.
