Mike Savage might run for president?

I really want this guy in the GOP field!

Mike Savage in the GOP primary can only help us. He'd have the effect of really showing people what the Republicans have become. Unlike the more sane-sounding varieties of right-wing lunatics (like Sam Brownback), Savage is stupid enough to actually say what he means. This guy wants to imprison the leadership of the ACLU; he openly calls for nuking Iran... and that's just the top of the iceberg.

Yes, indeed, I WANT him included in televised debates alongside the other Republican candidates.

And, in some primaries, he'd have the other GOP candidates climbing over each other to see who can sound ALMOST as crazy -- without actually sounding as crazy as Savage. It'd be a disaster in November for the candidate actually nominated.

3. Maybe, but it could also have the opposite effect

in that he would make even the most far right wingnut not look so bad by comparison, kinda like gwb sometimes makes Reagan look good by comparison.

Another downside is that Savage/Wiener's insane rhetoric is so inhumane, chauvanistic & hateful that it would be like allowing a kkk member to coarsen the debate (and that's an understatement). On the other hand, if it were his female (?) counterpart, (Coultergeist), she would get the gong show treatment even by her own party after probably one appearance. So, who knows?

4. I seriously want someone like Savage or Brownback to run as a 3rd party candidate!

If they both run for the GOP nomination and lose, and you KNOW they will, I hope at least one of them comes back as a third party candidate. It would be great to not only siphon some of the fundie votes away from the Repukes, but it would also show the country all the hate and bile behind the rhetoric espoused by the Repukes. Both of these things would only help the Democratic candidate, in my opinion.
