1. Kinda busy web site there.
Found the survey link under the heading, Watada Court Martial Draws Demonstrators.

Do you think Lt. Ehren Watada should be required to deploy despite his reservations against war?
Choice Votes Percentage of 5349 Votes
Yes 3413 64%

2. Shitty question. "despite his reservations"??
He doesn't have reservations. He says it's his DUTY to not go because the war is illegal.

10. I could've voted "yes" too
But I would've felt like I was spitting on the graves of those who gave their lives to fight against tyranny in World War II. The great gift of their sacrifice, IMHO, was the Nuremberg Principles codified in the U.S. in the military's own code of justice. Lt. Watada is doing his duty, both to his country and the memory of the fallen. So I had to vote "No."

16. Even if his moral fiber
tells him it is an illegal war based on lies? Interestingly you have a anime avatar, which suggests to me you might be in high school or are at the very least of serving age. Perhaps you should sign up in his place. What do you think? If you tell me where you live, I could direct you to the nearest recruiter's office.

Or, if you are actually serving, is there any order from your superiors that you would disagree with, or are you a mindless zombie with no real true honor?

11. Too Easy To Freep
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 09:16 AM by mntleo2
I voted twice just to see if I could vote twice and it worked. Not a good survey because there are so many ways now to make sure you only vote once and any webmaster/network administrator knows there are lots of different ways to make sure there is only one vote per computer. I am a techie and I find it hard to accept that, in this day and age, a news website, a website with this kind of money behind it, would allow themselves to be so ... easily freeped especially in this day and age. It might be good to write the webmaster and inform them that this is just not done and they should be embarrassed. They should have higher standards if they want to call themselves anything near credible as newscasters. As a matter of fact, I am writing them now and I will post it here as an open letter to let them consider it might be going around the Net that their "surveys" are bunk.

On edit: I tried another one of their surveys on their contact page and it was also easily freeped. These people need to get informed, lol.

P.S. Interesting they have our former governor's wife there as a newscaster, Mona Locke. Her husband, Gary Locke, was a Dem but he had some major issues with elitism and conservatism ~ especially against the poor.

12. Misleading question: "against war (in general)" isn't the case. "against this war" is more correct.
He said he would have no problem whatsoever going to Afghanistan or anywhere else other than Iraq.

18. Ltte To KIRO
LT Watada: An Open Letter To KIRO

In the Nuremberg Trials the reason that, "I was under orders to do it ..." did not fly. I commend LT Watada for his bravery to stand up and refuse to fight in a war that has been proven to be based on lies and only for the hubris of this administration. It has caused thousands of deaths of both our soldiers and the Iraqi people, for what? To reap billions for corporations who care little about who was hurt as long as they made a profit? A preemptive attack against a country that has not posed a threat that kills and maims our own people as well as kill thousands of innocents is a crime and this administration should face much the same trials as was in Nuremberg. I support all the troops, for whatever their consciences lead them, but especially I sympathize with informed soldiers who view the Iraqi war as a crime.

This war is costing us billions that could be used for our own people and in Afghanistan where the real terrorists have been for years, not in Iraq where "coincidentally" there is a great deal of oil.

Also KIRO needs to do something about their surveys, they are easily freeped (meaning the same person can vote over and over again in order to tilt the findings). There is software to fix that so a person is allowed only one vote. This would make your surveys more credible.

19. This poll question is such BS - Lt. Watada said he was willing to go to Afghanistan, and this poll
implies that he wasn't willing to get deployed and go to war....
