The headline says it all...
G.O.P. Senators Block Debate on Iraq Policy

Even with a so called majority in the house and Senate, Republicans a MINORITY party were able to block debate. Last year when the Dems were a minority party we were told on these boards that they really couldn't do much as so called opposition party because they didn't hold enough seats.

What is the excuse now?

Why couldn't they keep the Republicans from triumphing?

They are SPINELESS!

Let them put their kids and grandkids on the ground in the middle east and maybe, just maybe the votes will be different but somehow I doubt it.

Both parties drink from the same pro business anti worker corporate cup and serve the same master.

how "slim" they would run with it.

3. True, Rodeo......
--- Much slimmer than the 55-45 advantage wielded by the lately-vanquished republicans. Still, the point carries some weight. I'd like to see democrats behaving as if every contact with a republican counterpart was an adversarial one. This is a war, and they are the enemy. The mere act of supporting this president could be interpreted as anti-American at best, and treasonous at worst. I would treat them as such from the start.

5. Sad but true,

This is the unvarnished truth. Pay it no mind if it makes you feel better, but this is D.C. reality: They are politicians first and party members second (and actual representatives of their constituents much further down).

I'm still a proud Democrat, but a proud Democrat with both eyes wide open.
