When it comes to context, I believe that some DUers are of the cup half empty variety.
What is it about some of the members of DU who simply refuse to take the whole story or comment into consideration before making an opinion about said comment or story?

For instance: They focused on one word from Joe Biden: "Articulate"...instead of taking his entire comment about Obama into consideration.

Now it's the Snickers story: Oh that ad wasn't that bad--- uh yeah maybe--- but did they see the other ads? NO...

There are some here that just jump in and render an opinion and they make no attempt to research the whole story.

1. Is this something new or newly discovered?
People are the same everywhere. We are mostly jerks but the regulars at this site tend to have more redeeming, puppy-like qualities so I prefer their company.

I've seen some posts where the poster said something like "I don't know much about this...how should I feel about it?" Cripes Almighty man, do your own research and formulate your own opinion. We've got how many people here at DU these days? Believe me, I disagree with PLENTY of DUers and I don't feel guilty about it. What I would feel guilty about is going along with popular opinion without any real knowledge of the subject.

My theory is, some people don't think for themselves and just go along with whichever way the DU winds are blowing.

ON EDIT: Let me just say, I'm talking about a rather small minority, not the majority of folks here.
