Re a LTTE: Was yesterday's Senate vote to filibuster or not?
Help please? Sam Seder just said something about the vote yesterday was not actually about a filibuster, so now I am confused about what to say in the following LTTE:

Death and destruction embolden those who intend to become religious martyrs or tribal heroes. Strategic alternatives are disincentives to them. Senators Roberts and Brownback failed to understand this when they voted recently to avoid going on record by supporting the filibuster of a resolution expressing disagreement with President Bush’s plan to send 21,500 additional troops to Iraq.

The non-binding resolution included eight international strategies consistent with those supported by several retired Generals, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and the Iraq study group headed by James Baker.

In addition to the fact that it is difficult to respect reasons for or against the President’s plan if Senators won’t stand behind their positions with a vote, the hypocrisy of those who rhetorically flogged minority filibusters in the last Congress redoubles public disdain for those who expect our troops to make the ultimate sacrifice while they hide from having to stand up for their own positions.

1. i thought the vote was about debating the surge, not filibustering.

altho' i guess the debate session would include filibustering by the minority party . . . the hypocrites mentioned in the ltte.

2. I just listened to MSNBC's video clips with Warner and Feinstein on this
and they don't actually call it an attempt to filibuster.

Perhaps they just tabled the resolution?

Oh well, I edited this letter to call it a vote on whether to vote on the resolution or not, so I guess it makes the point okay anyway.

Wow! It's HARD to make 150 words say what needs to be said!!
