Has anyone seen China Blue yet?
I really want to see this movie. It's not playing near me at all. I'll have to wait until I can get the DVD. Info on the movie is availble here:
http://www.teddybearfilms.com/ourfilms

"China Blue takes us inside a blue-jeans factory, where Jasmine and her friends are trying to survive a harsh working environment. But when the factory owner agrees to a deal with his Western client that forces his teenage workers to work around the clock, a confrontation becomes inevitable.

Shot clandestinely in China, under difficult conditions, this is a deep-access account of what both China and the international retail companies don’t want us to see – how the clothes we buy are actually made. "

It looks so sad.

And of course they make jean for Wal-Mart.

1. China has a lot of big problems
Some government officials are trying to stop the free for all capitalist slave drive but there is so much corruption in business and government that it is very hard. The Wal-Marts in China recently unionized and the workers all recieved a 50% wage increase. I have no clue what the original wage was however.

2. In this documentary it was $.06 per hour for the factory workers.
So now it's up to $.09 and hour if the raise applied to them.

But is the union for employees of Wal-Mart stores in China or the sweatshops that produce goods for western Wal-Marts?

That's just strange.

5. not really
the USA always loves to point out and many times lie about the human rights problems in other countries to cover up what it does at home and abroad. One example: We always point out that media in communist countries is controlled by the state...yet here in the US it is controlled by US corporations. We see how well corporate news works...just one example of the "look over there" tactic to keep focus off the homeland.

6. Sorry, I thought you were referring to a new form of Heroin.
The old, "China White" works quite well, thank you. We ship our production of goods and services to China and get them produced really cheap. We charge our U.S.A. subsidiary so much for the product that they lose money and don't have to pay taxes. White guys get rich!

Is China Blue some sort of way that us blue collar workers can get rich too?
