Jim Webb has it nailed...
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 08:34 PM by SaveElmer
On the Senate floor today...putting the blame where it belongs!!!

Mr. President, I wish to emphasize my support for the Levin/Warner Resolution that was painstakingly put together by a number of senior Senators from both sides of the aisle, only to be denied a full debate and open vote through the procedural motions yesterday evening. Winston Churchill once wrote about watching good ideas getting nibbled to death by ducks. Last night, we saw that phenomenon in action. We had before us a measure that would allow this Congress to speak clearly of its concerns regarding the woeful lack of leadership by the President on an issue that affects our nation and our military people like no other. And the other side - including some Senators who had helped to draft the resolution, and had put their names on it - punted the ball down field, rather than giving the people of this country the debate they not only need, but are calling for in every public opinion poll.

5. Echo that.
Really thought his response to the SOTU was wonderful and articulated the DEM view with sense and passion.

I absolutely see him as presidential material, that is, after our next DEM President serves 2 terms! :)

WEBB in 2016!

9. many of our presidents have been that age
hard to remember after two very young presidents being elected successively. Can't recall how old Reagan was when he was first elected - but in the election and reelection it came up as an issue and then was quickly dismissed by many. Bushsr was also no Spring Chicken when he was president.

I am incredibly impressed by Webb. Seems to be a very bright rising star.

4. Ah, I had no idea the point of the article...
"This is not supporting the troops. This is misusing the troops."

a meme that should be resonated daily, if not hourly!

and I wholeheartedly agree! Thanks, Senator!

19. You know what gives him his clarity right?
He has a son in Iraq. When your kids life is on the line it's a different game. Remember when Webb blew Bush off and the media went nuts about it? It's funny how they neglected to report that Webb's son's convoy had just been hit and one kid had died. Bush knew this and had the nerve to act like he was doing Webb a favor by talking to him. Webb actually has a real stake in this and the rest of the dems should STFU, and let the man who has more than his little political career at stake lead the charge.
