Radical Progressive Agenda To Stop War
okay, I realize that this is radical and that most Dems would never support it (except maybe Boxer, Kucinich, Conyers, Woolsey and a few others) but why could the dems not vow to block all future legislation and shut down the government until the war is ended? We don't have the votes to impeach or pass a binding resolution but this would certainly get the ball rolling. I wish we had a more radical political sense in this country. If any Western European country were in the situationw e are now...there would be strikes in the streets daily.

1. congresscritters won't do it. They've demonstrated that
its up to the people to make their lives miserable with civil disobedience.

2. I know they won't do it
Our democracy is not really much of a democracy. Many of us would have loved to vote for more left wing or anti-war candidates but knew in the current system they would never win. We need IRV voting, end to gerrymandering, campaign finance laws and the ability to recall the president and all congress members.

3. The times they are a changin
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
