I just get the feeling that bushco is fed up with our Democratic opposition already.

3. Two birds with one stone
Terror attack would probably take the heat off.

4. That would only give more support for the dems, remember shrub is fighting them over there so
we don't have to fight them here. A terror attack on an american city would destroy all but the most rabid right winger. After all right wingers are quick to remind us there hasn't been any attacks on american soil since 9/11 because the terrorists are to busy in Iraq.

5. Not this time
If Bushco is really THAT evil, the time to have launched a covert terrorist attack on US citizens to consolidate power would have been earlier. It's too late now. Any attack on US soil now would invalidate the "We need to fight them over there" talk. Plus, post-Katrina, the White House can't risk any situation that would further reveal the incompetance of FEMA (and by extension, the entire federal government) in protecting the average citizen.

Not to mention - if we had some sort of "V for Vendetta" type scenerio, the government no longer has the troops in place to lock the US down, declare martial law and create a police state. Too many of our troops are now overseas.
