Children of Galileo - Violence against evolutionary researchers and anthropologists happens today
Edited on Wed Feb-07-07 12:52 PM by ck4829
Here are some attacks, not hundred of years ago, but not too long ago.

In 1989, David Webster, a Social Anthropologist, was shot and killed outside his home by the Civil Cooperation Bureau, a covert agency for the Apartheid Regime.

In 1993, Richard Leakey (Very famous anthropologist, there probably isn't anyone on here who hasn't heard his name) lost both his legs when his propeller-driven plane crashed. Sabotage was suspected, but never proved.

In 2005, Paul Mirecki, the chairman of the Religious Studies Department at the University of Kansas, was hospitalized after being assaulted by two unidentified men who made references to the class he had planned to teach in the spring. The course, entitled "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism and other Religious Mythologies" was intended to support evolution, and explore Intelligent Design as a mythology.

1. Ok
Why was Webster shot?

Is there any evidence in the airplane crash other than that people suspected arson?

The third case is pretty bad though.

2. Webster's death was probably political
Sounds like he uncovered something the South African Regime was doing that they didn't want discovered.
