How long before this "adult diaper" thing hits the workplace?
I wrote up a parody article but lost it when my computer crashed.

Anyway

I can just see some managment consultants start pushing this idea in their recommendations template

Generally they suggest
cutting expenses (fire someone and be tough for a month or so in re-imbursements)
streamline operations (be a dick to everyone)
eliminate distractions (cut off internet gaming sites)

and so forth.

Imagine a workplace in which no one takes a bathroom break because they just dump their diaper in the trash on the way out the door.

No more watercooler chatter/smoking room rumor mill (management can control the flow of info)

Sell it to employees that they will get to home 15 minutes earlier and therefore spend more time with their family or have an extra round BEFORE going home.

I can just see it now.

Yet another advancement courtesy of the space program (see trauma centers, old fat guys hitting a golf ball 300 yards, and rallyless tennis matches).

1. I think it already has ...
I have vague reccollections about employees having to do this in some pipe factory in Texas (?). It was horrible.

16. Yup....
Anyone in medicine thinks catheter when they hear Foley....

Ironically a department store in Denver changed its name from MAY D&F to Foley's several years ago--since become Macy's. What the hell they were thinking, I couldn't tell you!

wore diapers because they were not allowed bathroom breaks. But this is the first time I've heard of it in the US; figures it'd be Texas.

8. Factory workers have already been there done that.
why do you think unions fought so hard to get a 15 min break every 4 hours? there was a time when workers were actually expected to be at the machine for a full 12-16 hours straight. No food, no water, no pee breaks.

You must be an expert.

Just kidding, Underpants. It is a funny and also interesting question, though. I heard of a law office in which all the employees were constantly under video monitoring by the office manager and docked pay for spending too much time away from their desks, including time on bathroom breaks. Maybe they're considing just such an option as diapers.

30. Yes, but office chairs will feel a lot more comfortable to sit on
with that extra layer of soft padding underneath. Every employee will suddenly feel like they've made it to the executive suite, with an ultra cushy office chair.

31. So what happens when it starts squirting up their backs?
Not to be too disgusting (though it is), but I know this is an issue with toddlers and diapers. What about Gus, whose asscrack hangs out half the time? I'm thinking this would quickly be a public health issue.

38. Squirting? As in diarrhea?
Yeah, I see your point, given the quality of food in a lot of employee lunch rooms. For those suffering from chronic diarrhea, maybe a full body diaper or even a wet suit would do the trick.

42. Yeah, wet suit or maybe everyone could wear astronauts suits
and only remove them once in awhile, even wearing them home and to bed. Suit cleaning could become a major industry and a major annual event in someone's professional life. There could even be a national holiday for the cleaning of employee suits, unless the bigger companies could offer a spare suit as a major perk. But if one should ever get puntured at work or on the bus, you'd have to immediately contact HazMat.

No need for water, toilet paper, extra electricity. Instead they could tell employees to bring hand sanitizer to work.

35. Good Stuff. Except For One Thing
There really aren't any old fat guys hitting a golf ball 300 yards. If you couldn't hit it 285 with old stuff, you ain't hittin' it 300 now.

I play a lot of golf at the club level. I hardly know anyone who can hit it 300. (I'm a 3 handicap and can only hit it in the 250's.) The distance thing is a marketing gimmick!

I'm not criticizing. Just a golf fanatic.
