4. I Hope The Freepers Get Their Wish Re GOP Nominee

I hope that the Freeperstanis get their fondest wishes regarding the 2008 GOP Presidential nomination. I hope that the Far Right x's out both Rudolph Giuliani and John McCain and manages to get somebody like Bill Frist or Kansas senator Brownbach as their presidential nominee and someone like Texas' Rick Perry as their veep.

If that's the case, look for runs on sack cloth and ashes after the 2008 elections.

but I strongly suspect that those who rail most loudly against "partial birth abortion" (which is a political term, not a medical one) do not have even the remotest understanding of the circumstance in which the procedure would be used.

They seem to have this image of healthy, viable fetuses being aborted willy nilly by mothers who wake up one day in their later terms and decide they don't want the baby. They don't even consider the mother who is presented with a fetus who will not live, perhaps one with profound hydrocephalus, whose head circumference is much too large to allow safe passage in a conventional birth. They don't consider the dangers a hysterotomy to pose to such a woman and her future fertility, or that the so-called "partial birth abortion" (dilation and extraction; D & X) might be the safest, best option for her and for her family.

No, they scream about murder and horror and mix up their medical facts with their hysterical emotions, never once considering the real people - mothers, fathers, families, doctors - involved. The government should never be in the business of interfering in such personal, painful decisions.
