We should just completely quit buying any product with fur on it. It is impossible to tell whether it is really just fake fur or whether it is really dog fur.

This stuff just makes me sick to my stomach.

One more reason to pass on all Chinese products - although I think some other countries are doing this, too.

1. Not just dogs, cats as well
Heard on the news last night they are using both dogs and cats for faux fur...

3. Oh, yeal
I read about one poor lady who bought this stuffed cat and couldn't figure out why her cat at home kept rubbing and smelling it. It was real cat fur stuffed to look like a stuffed toy.

I've also heard about dog and cat fur on slippers.

It's all kinds of stuff.

The only way to stop this stuff is for everyone to simply not buy anything with fur on it. Completely shut down the market.

4. This has been going on for a long time.
Millions of dogs and cats in China are raised in deplorable conditions and then slaughtered for their fur - actually they are skinned alive.

It is just God Awful.

14. I think that is just propaganda.
Have you ever given a cat a bath?

Now, can you imagine trying to skin that cat, alive?

Using their fur, yeah, probably. Skinning alive? Impractical, difficult and unneccessary.

5. Where did I read that JC Penney
actually instructed salespeople to mark out where the 'fur' came from and market it as raccoon? The story quoted an anonymous Penneys associate from an NC store. I never, ever buy anything with any sort of fur nor do I buy or use leather.

Are Cute! The article says they are the source of much of the 'faux' fur.

8. I have chinchillas and this guy was telling me how much money
I could make if I would just breed them for market(for their fur). I'm quietly listening to the asswipe carry on with his explanation, waiting for a pause - it comes.

I stroke his lower arm and ask him just what quality of leather does he think his skin would make...and does he have children.

It took him a minute

10. Right, so....what color would the man dye your chinchilla leather?
Navy blue, perhaps?
Oh, okay, I get it. You aren't going to expend your pets.

9. If it has a skin base it's real fur from an animal of some sort..
If it has a fabric base it's fake.

But something that has skin shouldn't labeled a fake fur or faux fur. It isn't.

And I don't buy or wear real or fake fur either.

11. My local JC Penney store
has the dog fur coats with the fur content balcked out with a marker on the label. i brought this to their attention a couple of weeks ago.

Do you really think they give a crap? No. Just more corporate abuse of the consumer. what else is new.

I wouldn't buy anything that even looks like fur. It's a wonder that people who wear this stuff aren't embarrassed.

15. Wearing the fake shit keeps it fashionable, too.
It's definitely better just to skip it entirely. Even people who don't for the animals should just because it looks absolutely ridiculous.

16. Sure it's easy to tell.

Not to be contrary, but all you have to do is separate the "hair." The skin of an animal looks quite different from the fabric used for fake hair. I don't have any fur or fake fur, but many years ago had a fake fur coat which was the warmest coat I ever had and definitively had woven fabric holding it together. It was the most expensive piece of clothing I'd ever owned. I got it 40 years ago and it cost me over $100. It was beautiful. I guess I'm lucky no one ever threw red paint on it. I'd still have it, but had no need for it after moving to Florida so I gave it away.

P.S. Horrible that they use dog and cat fur. Horrible that people eat horse meat. But that fake fur coat was absolutely the warmest coat I ever had and that includes heavy parkas.
