what would happen if the secret government was revealed?

looking at a couple of impeachment threads, plus lsk's
wow, Hartmann just put 2 and 2 together for me i just sort of went off on a tangent, thinking about what would happen is everything, i mean everything, could be brought out in the open. so many of the worst acts of the u.s. government, going back to the end of wwII, are known. many of the threads here by octafish cite publicly available sources. i can't wait to read john perkins new book. but most of what is in there is also known.
sometimes, we think that if we get the truth out there, change will follow. but i wonder why this stuff is out there, and yet so few do actually know about it.
it occurs to me that what is keeping impeachment "off the table" is really the flood of truth about the secret government that a full investigation would unleash. it would no longer be the purview of us "loonies". it would be on the teevee. in the laps of joe sixpack.
then what?

By definition, the only thing that makes a shadow a shadow is the absence of light. Shine light on it and eventually it's no longer as scary as it once was. It seems clear for those of us who follow post-war (and even pre-war) American history, warts and all, that the American myth is just that. A myth. But I am an optimist. That doesn't mean we can't make it happen. We need an American equivalent of a Truth and Reconciliation Committee. Let's air all our dirty laundry, the coups, the assassinations, the racism, the blackmailing, the economic exploitation, everything. It will horrify people, I'm sure. It will rock their frickin' worlds. But once it's out, it will be out and then we can truly attempt to move on and realize the true American Dream, a dream that includes all the world's people.

People wouldn't believe it because they don't want to. Most people know it is there already they just don't want to know how nasty the organizations their tax dollars fund really are.

:shrug: seems that the resistance to it is something a lot deeper than the next dem candidate. and it would seem to me that an impeachment for actual crimes would be such a stark contrast to the bs of the clinton impeachment that is would wash away any remaining stink that hill might have on her.

13. I don't think the DLC is very deep.

Although, they do have as much stake as the elites on the other side in keeping all these scandals under the radar, let alone the deep structure that generates them. For example, the fact that we spend more on defense than the rest of the world combined but the Pentagon can't tell anyone where the money goes. :shrug:
