Wal-Mart plans die on main street 203,00-square-foot store
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 04:22 PM by kokono
It has stopped plans to buy the property on the last day of closing. the area is the 16th fastest growing community in the United States. But no walmart.          I think they had a sign spat. Wal-mart wanted the legal limit of square feet of sign x each store department vs just the one store. The super target opens down the street around April.:7 :7 :7 :7 :7 http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200770808019

1. Have you seen the documentary
Walmart: the High Cost of Low Prices?

They do that often. If there is some dispute over taxes or city limits, if the employees are given the right to organize, or some thing that Walmart does not like, they split. Sometimes they even break ground, or build their monstrosity, but they leave anyway, if things do not go their way.

They are parasites.

2. No, but I can't sit through that stuff anymore knowing the
government doesn't represent the US. They also abandoned plans two years ago farther north because the city wanted parking in the rear. This is a really nice part of the USA. Walmart's money doesn't mean anything in a healthy sector. FIRST DEFEAT THE MIDDLE CLASS AND YOU DEFEAT THE AMERICA.

3. This one had some good stuff in it.
A group in California actually won and kept Walmart out.

I was heartened to see that a church in the area helped in this effort. During the thirties, labor priests used to help workers. We are going to need more of those kinds of efforts in the future.

4. the jewel store is closing in dixon
because of walmarts lower operating cost and compared to jewels . dixon will have two small grocery stores one on the northside and southside.they hang in because of their meat depts and the connivance of smaller size. they also rundeeper discounts every week than walmarts pricing. it`s pretty bad in a market size that dixon has that there is only one large store and that`s walmart...hell we drive to m&m at least once a month!

5. Yes, I found that out a couple of days ago.
I went to the Jewel in Dixon, because there are some items I cannot get here in Polo at the SuperValu. I was shocked that the Jewel is closing. I figured it was because of the Walmart.

I will not set foot in that Walmart, for groceries, or anything else. I guess I will be going to M&M a bit more myself.
