By election day '08 Obama will have four years experience in the US Senate. On election day '00 Bush had six years experience as governor of Texas. Any Republican making an arugment that Obama lacks experience has some hypocritial ass to cover. But if elective office is our criterion, Bush's CV is scads better than another Republican president's resume upon taking office in a time of crisis.
Would you rank as qualified a candidate whose sole governmental experience is one term in the House of Representative (and that term ended 12 years prior to election day), plus one failed run for the US Senate, plus a few months as a postal carrier in small town? Sounds pretty meager in the ol' presidential qualifications department, huh? Add to that the fact that he's gangly, ugly, has a tinny unsophisticated voice, never finished his 6th grade education, and has a drunken raving lunatic for a wife. Who in their right mind would ever trust such a man as president?
This is just a theory of mine, but I think there may be more to being presidential that just paper qualifications.
