CNN had a bit comparing A N Smith with Marily Monroe

....but in reality marilyn had class and style and grace. anna, as nice as she was, didn't. her cable tv show was embarrassing....the couple times i saw it i was embarrassed for her. you can't compare the two women.

but, yeah, you're absolutely right...people shouldn't trash anna nicole. she was a human being with feelings and her death is tragic, as any 39 year old's death would be. she certainly had been suffering after her son's death, pain that all the money in the world can't ease.

She showed poor taste in being taped in those moments for the show. The times I saw her there wasn't a good moment. Every time she talked especially on her show it appeared that she was drunk or stoned.

I don't have a problem with her inheriting her husband's money. I think she had a right to it.

She was not dumb as dirt, far from it. Marilyn was very talented, but if Anna Nicole was, we never got to see it.

They're lives are similar mostly because they both had childhood emotional traumas and made bad choices because they couldn't heal their wounds.

As for the claim that Marilyn had class and Anna Nicole didn't, that's more of a reflection of the times than the woman.

I personally feel no ill will towards Anna Nicole, although I wasn't a fan. I don't blame this poor girl who had a troubled childhood from grabbing every opportunity life presented to her. I do blame the average American (i.e. us) for creating the type of society in which people with no talent and questionable charm become famous. It's not Anna Nicole's fault; it's ours. We are the same people who stall freeway traffic for hours because we like to stare at the blood of the accident on the opposing side of the highway, or the people who enjoy seeing and celebrating U.S. helicopters "grease" the Iraqi insurgents in video clips on the Internet. We are the same people who allow illiterate baboons to come within 100 feet of a microphone and call themselves President and not immediately impeach him for treasonous lies that led us into an immoral war that violates international law. Americans who lived 50 or 60 years ago and elected someone like Franklin Roosevelt would not believe what passes today for a President.

Today, just look at the hacks who parade across the movie screens and tell me they have even one small percentage of the talent, looks, charm, and class that actors and celebrities had 40 or 50 years ago. Those with talent today are the exception, not the rule. I think our society is in full cultural degeneration. But maybe that's just me.
