Latinos lob a few words at governor
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's off-the-cuff comments in recently released audio recordings about illegal immigration and the unwillingness of Mexicans to assimilate into American society have drawn angry responses this week from Latino community and political leaders.

"I made an effort," the Austrian-born Schwarzenegger told aides last April in conversations that touched on assimilation. "But the Mexicans don't make that effort."

The governor also used an expletive to disparage the 1986 federal law that granted asylum to more than 2 million illegal immigrants.

"His comments were highly offensive and outrageous," said Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles). "It's just mind-blowing that he continues to put his foot in his mouth."

You poor fool, guess you don't know California history or you would know that Mexicans were the lords of the land. I, for one, would not like them to ASSimalate. For one thing, the language is beautiful and more spoken than Austrian around the world. And the food.....so much better than snoogle or boiled cabbage. The Mexican authors and poets beat Austria hands down. You've hardly assimlated, you can't even say California. Racist bastard; they are way more American (note: the whole damn continent) than you could ever be in 7 generations. Pass the salsa and tequilla please! Olay!!!

2. You have to make that effort if you're from Austria
Or Norway or Luxembourg.

It's not like he had a choice. If you are from Mexico or China or India you have a bigger community in the U.S. But that support can make it easier in some ways to assimilate.

The early 20th century immigrants had their Irish, Italian or Polish neighborhoods that eventually blended in.

Ahnold is a moran because he can't see that (or pretends he can't). If there are ever huge numbers of Austrian immigrants, God forbid, they'll do the same.

3. Ahnold is such an ignorant ass.
I have a couple of neighbors here in suburban Southern California. One has a truck parked in his driveway. He's a landscape guy. The other one drives a Camry and works as an accountant. Neighbor number one, the landscaper, is Jewish. Neighbor number two, the accountant, is of Mexican heritage.
You'd think after living in California this long Arnold would understand that stereotypes are meaningless. Instead, the moron embraces them. He ought to get out of his movie star bubble and into the real world. Sheesh.
