CSpan has rerun programming on 2 &3. I know some of the hearing is supposed to be in closed session but there is an open session too.
This is so frustrating!

4. Part of it was open
But I couldn't find a live feed. (And, btw, that Armed Services site needs an update, badly.)

However, the transcipt is coming in in bits and pieces over the wire services. So it was open and the public testimony is being collected and disseminated.

being aired live on CSpan is beyond me! I will repeat, CSpan 2 & 3 have rerun programming on.

You mentioned that the transcript is coming in bits and pieces and will be disseminated...disemminated to who's point of view?

6. To whomever pays for it
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 01:30 PM by TayTay
Usually news bureaus. This is the raw transcript of the hearing. People sign up and pay for services that transcribe Congressional hearings. And the news can mean the huge industry press that has the bucks to pay for these services.

Somebody has to pay for this service. It ain't free and Congress doesn't release their transcripts for a long time. (There is a bill pending to make this stuff public much, much quicker. Sigh!)

7. My point is that the public should have the right to view or listen to this so they can
make their own decisions.

Even having the transcripts isn't always enough. One cannot get a full impression of the attitude of those giving testimony with just the written word.

I am hoping that over the weekend, CSpan will deem it fit to show the hearing.

9. I agree.
The original point was if this was a closed hearing. It is not. The transcript is being released.

It should be on C-Span. It should be on the Congressional web broadcast system as most other hearings are. (At least on the Senate side.) It wasn't available on any C-Span, the Armed Services site or the capitolhearings.org site. It occured, it wasn't closed, at least when the IG was giving testimony and it should have been available to the public. Sigh.

But it wasn't a closed hearing. I have proof of that.

10. Yet it might as well be closed when the cable news networks are feeding on the Anna Nicole Smith
story. That takes priority over how we are lied to into war.

Thanks for all of your responses! :hi:

8. They might do it tonight or over the weekend. They often delay
hearings because they couldn't fit them in so jostle them around. The Waxman Hearing was on at 5:00 a.m. and other hearings might be rebroadcast in the middle of the night.

C-Span will probably have their weekend schedule up soon so we might find a listing.

I can't wait to watch it, too!

11. The fact is that cspan 2 and 3 are showing reruns and could hold the hearing live. eom
I think this is very deliberate.
