Someone yesterday mentioned Anna was estranged from her family for over 15 years and when Anna's son died the media made a point of saying grandma hadn't seen the child since he was about 2.

I'm not discounting even an estranged mother's grief over the loss of her child. Certainly not.

I'm used to be in the foster/child protection system and have been an emergency shelter for kids when orphaned - or one parent kills the other etc. I've seen it get really ugly when a wealthy parent dies with little kids left behind and the relatives start coming out of the woodwork wanting to "make a home" for the kids. I've also seen no one step forward to offer a home for poorer kids.

She's already said the baby belongs with her father, whoever that may be.

Until the paternity is confirmed, they'll probably be allowed to care for her. Nothing sinister about that.

Her grandson died and now she's lost her daughter. There is dispute about who the father is. My understanding is Nicole's marriage wasn't legal.

My thoughts are with this baby girl who could be treated like a commodity. I hope those close to her give her the love she needs.
