growing old
Nobody grows old living a number of years, people grow old by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, distrust, fear and despair; these are the long, long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement of the stars, and star-like things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing child-like appetite for what is next, and the joy of the game of life.

3. Tell that to my deteriorating joints and immune system
What is aging me is the disgraceful state of delivery of medical care (or lack of) in America.

My spirit is about the same as when I was 17. My values are pretty much the same. Little things mean a lot, but wear and tear is making life difficult.

4. If that isn't the Voice of Reason I don't know what it
I find nothing wrong with growing old (agewise.) I tell youngins that's what they should aspire to do.

13. Age is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter.
That's what I keep telling myself and so far it's working.

15. Yo go Granny
A teen recently made joking mention that I was old (I'm all of 52.) I told him that if he were lucky someday he would be to.

However, I recall that when I was a teen, I was an asshole as well.

I think its called youth wasted on the young.

6. I'd still like to be 25 again.
Knowing what I know now, etc., etc.

I miss the stamina and the limberness and the hair and the teeth. And other things I've probably forgotten!

7. "Worry, doubt, distrust, fear and despair"
I had none of these feelings before BushCo came along and yes, they are aging me drastically. They were flipped on like a switch in 2000. Unfortunately looking at the stars doesn't help, although it used to.

11. Fantastic post!!!!!!!
Our age is really in our minds. That "mental-age" may be influenced by our physical condition, but by far the strongest factor is how you think about yourself?

Here's a question - how old do you feel? When you think about where you are in life, how old are you?

Me personally, I feel about half what it says on my drivers license.
