On CSPAN RIGHT NOW
Sen. Sanders just said, he "does not believe that the
Bush Administration is trying to help all of the
people. Don't believe that at all. I think you
guys work day and night to help the people on top
and I think you turn your backs on middle income
people, working people, and low income people."

4. What is this in relation to
what is the hearing about?

Bernie has said such things time and time again on Hartmann's show.

8. Sounds like he's saying this TO a Bushler official
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 05:09 PM by kenny blankenship
that's the crucial difference between what Sanders is saying and the way Democrats usually talk.
Sander's accusation may seem painfully obvious to most people here who are non-office holding Democrats, who have no public megaphone to speak with, and who can speak without tape recoders picking it up for later use (possibly against them in a military tribunal). For whatever reason though, Democrats on the Hill almost never express themselves this way. Instead of telling the GOP off to its face, they routinely play along with the fiction that the Bushler Repulicans and Administration officials also serve the same common good and the same public interest that they do. The impression viewers at home get is that the 2 parties want the same things or value the same things, that they pursue the same objectives of government, but just differ over the means to secure these objectives. Of course that's not really true. But it wouldn't be polite to point out the true differences between them--Democrats seem to believe this. (But it is a very odd belief, because Republicans accuse Democrats of evil motivations all the time whether speaking to reporters or on the Congressional Record). The truth that they do not both serve the public interest, and that the Bushler Revolution is in effect a takeover of gov't for the benefit of the top 1% of wealth holders, is murdered by silence. Bernie Sanders isn't one to be silent on such an important point. If it seems surprising that he leveled this accusation at the Bushlerites, it's not remarkable because what he said is too painfully obvious, but because nobody ever talks to them this way.

14. Sanders doesn't need a clue.
He knows what's going on. He's not ignoring it like the others.

13. "Senator" Sanders....love the sound of that!
Those who have been critical of Bernie on this thread clearly do NOT know this man!

If only a few of the celeb Dems like Hillary would stand up and speak TRUTH to POWER like Bernie!

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
