Follow-up post on home wiretapping
Earlier today, I posted about a private residence suddenly being installed with surveillance cameras and microphones in all rooms. It was posited that the homeowner's husband did it in order to keep an eye on for her for questionable motives.

But -- what if it wasn't an individual, but rather "the authorities" if you know what I mean. Do any of you know of someone who speaks out like we do on DU, and has had his/her/their home entered when then locked and empty, and these devices were installed? I have only heard of this one other time and it involved someone formerly on DU who wrote a strong letter to the editor.

What can you tell me? What do you do? If you decommission them, are you breaking the law or in it deeper so to speak? I'm not going to even mention warrants as they are irrelevant these days.

1. IF anybody entered you residence when you had it locked and were away
and they planted devices to monitor you; you might want to remove them and take them down to the pawn shop.

I assume you have no criminal conspiracies occurring on your premises.

On the other hand you might want to invite some friends over to rehearse a "Play"
and hilarity may well ensue.

2. If it is in your private residence
Itseems to me you can do what you like with what you find in it.Including destroying it.I would check with your local law enforcement first though.

3. You don't have to check with anyone.
If there is crap in your house that you do not want in your house bash it with a hammer and take it to the dump. This is still nominally a constitutional republic with respect for individual rights.
