Here's something new about Gardesil:
In recent years, there have been shortages of flu and tetanus vaccines because few manufacturers want to get involved because of the threat of law suits. Yet here Merck is betting the farm trying to give it to as many as possible as quickly as possible. They must have convinced their own lawyers and management types that the stuff is pretty damn safe!

2. Don't forget the cancer, the cancer is the key
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 04:43 PM by simskl
Drug companies want everyone to get cancer, that's where the real money is. Don't you see, nobody that works for a drug company ever gets cancer it's just the poor people that take Flintstone brand vitamins.

The autism connection is a red herring to throw people off the trail.

6. If this vaccine causes any of the problems that some people
here have speculated about, the compoany will go bankrupt from the law suits!

9. I haven't seen any of that speculation and ...

In case you haven't heard there is something called the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program
which effectively sheilds these corporations from law suits.

But you knew all that already didn't you.

5. Or they want to sell as many expensive doses as possible
before they lose patent protection and have to lower their price.

That is the main driving factor in pushing new drugs onto the market too quickly.

10. One thing is that there are many flu virus forms
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 06:19 PM by alarimer
And it changes every year. So they have to predict which one it's going to be and manufacture the vaccine from that. Sometimes it's late. As for tetanus, the shortage there was because most of the factories shut down and that left only one to make enough and they couldn't keep up. I can't remember why they shut down.
