Boys of Boise...
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 05:31 AM by regnaD kciN
On AAR yesterday, one of the guests, commenting on Sen. Craig's downfall, referred to the "boys of Boise" scandal of 1955, wherein it was revealed that a number of community leaders in that conservative Idaho city were part of a long-running secret "homosexual underworld."

Now, I know that it's the not-so-secret goal of the Publicans to move us right back into the 1950s, but I don't think that's quite what they had in mind. Nonetheless, I couldn't help but wonder whether Larry Craig might be, in fact, leading a revival of the "boys of Boise" (maybe with other G.O.P.ers like Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Bob Allen, and Glenn Murphy making up a long-distance branch).

I can't think of a better tribute to these always-entertaining Publicans than a song. Those with memories of British folksongs will no doubt find this familiar...

BOYS OF BOISE
(to the tune of "Boys of Bedlam")

For to see the boys of Boise,
Four hundred miles I'd travel.
Just to watch the "Godly" twist and squirm,
As their cover stories unravel.

CHORUS:
Still I sing bonny boys,
Bonny gay boys,
Boise boys undo me,
For they tap their shoes,
As they sit in the loos,
And their closets are so roomy.

Boise boys will do it anywhere,
In a bar, or park, or carriage,
And they will not stop for anything,
'cept to rail 'gainst same-sex marriage.

(CHORUS)

"It's a threat to our morality!"
The Boise boys all shouted.
And they'll keep up with their cries of doom,
'til each one of them gets outed.

(CHORUS)

Now, how many Boise boys there be,
I have no way of countin',
For Idaho's a cowboy land,
Very much like Brokeback Mountain.

(CHORUS)

(REPEAT FIRST VERSE AND CHORUS)
