Thompson announcement date likely to come today

Fred Thompson's campaign-in-waiting will hold a 4 p.m. conference call today with supporters to brief them on plans for the former Tennessee senator's presidential announcement next week, according to an e-mail obtained by Politico.com.

Randy Enwright, Thompson's political director, said in the message that they will "discuss the next steps as we move forward as an organization." A Thompson aide confirms that they'll share the news about the long-awaited formal launch. "By the end of the day, we'll have more clarity," the aide said, declining to reveal which day the announcement would take place.

13. You know, his wife is 25 years younger than him,
Kucinich's is 29. I don't think that's a winning issue for us. Then again, Kucinich is trailing WetzelBill for the nomination, so maybe it won't matter.

3. Jesus effing Christ. Are they preparing to storm the beaches at Normandy, or
announce a Presidential run that was obvious since last spring? Could this assclown make himself MORE ridiculous?

7. Of course he does, he's an actor, unless he has some of his adoring fans
fawning all over him, it doesn't feel right.

9. I seriously wonder why he's running--he looks sick, he runs a risk
of his lymphoma coming out of remission, he sounds tired and lethargic, and relies on the same talking points and vague ideas over and over again. I honestly wonder if his wife is trying to do him in for insurance money, or is it his ego and his need for the ultimate starring role that makes him plod ahead?

8. Republicans really love actors to be their spokesman/puppet/President.
They don't want leadership or competence. They want a stuffed shirt who can read his lines and convince gullible people that republicans care about their problems, while they rob the Nation blind.
