another example of Repub arrogance... congressman leaves threat on voicemail...
to constiuents based on a letter to the editor. Seriously? And he didn't think that this would be released? Intimidation of citizens based on a letter to the editor?

Who - Congressman Lamborn (never heard of him)

Looks like this is a brand new story - so maybe the details aren't yet out. Maybe a hoax (except he keeps telling the he wants to meet with them to correct what he claims was unfactual in their letter "in a biblical fashion" (or something like that) before he returns to Washington next week. So doubtful a hoax. Wonder what the ltte said ...

Too short of an item to excerpt - so here is the link: http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_6781394

Is the guy an idiot, or what?

9. I read a post of the two messages that were left on this couple's
phone. Was that the extent of the article or was there more?

13. This board chokes on semi colons. I put the link through TinyURL
and it works. What happens is a space forms between the semi colon and the previous character. If you try to copy/paste the link, the browser will add the ASCII for a space. Remove those three ASCII characters (%20) and it works.

Try this

10. Oh, GOD! That's such a SLEAZY message to send to a L.T.T.E. writer!
How do you "settle" something on a "Scriptural" basis?

What gives Lamborn the right to harrass opinion letter writers? Does he know something we don't?

Rep. Doug Lamborn

I've only heard anything this stupid one time before, and it concerned a previous mayor of Miami, who showed up on the doorstep of a Miami woman who wrote an Letter to the Editor condemning him, late in the evening. What a #### surprise! She called the cops, and wouldn't talk to him.

Hope someone will know more about Rep. Lamborn to add to this. Thanks, salin.

14. I think it went something like this:
last primary (seat was open) was a nasty fest. So various candidates "pledged" to run clean campaigns.

Known repub operatives (a married couple) submit a ltte to a suburban paper - claiming Lamborn took $ from gambling interests (omg! playing the 'family values' card) and voted against making dogfighting penalties stricter.

Lamborn claims this was false and a violation of the clean campaign promise (presuming that the couple is working for another candidate).... BUT from my read, it looks like they didn't lie in the letter.

That doesn't change the intimidation via voice mail, though.

15. a politician once showed up at the door of a critic
this was a few decades ago, when William Donald Schaefer was mayor of Baltimore. I don't remember the exact details but for someone who criticized him in a LTTE, Schaefer showed up at his home one evening to talk to him about it.
Shaefer was mayor, gov. of MD, and recently lost the race for state comptroller. He was a Democrat who endorsed Bush Sr. for president, and did all sorts of other things that made people wonder if he was bonkers.
