Please do yourself a favor and watch "The Universe" marathon today on History Channel..
I've been watching the series from the start and it's simply awe inspiring. It's one of the best docs I've seen on the subject because it does a fantastic job of demonstrating the massive scales involved in simple terms.

One of the best episodes is on right now.. The Sun.

1. I've Been Watching It Too
It is facinating. Shame the History channel doesn't do more shows like it.

3. My eight year old son has been watching it and loves it. We have them
DVR'ed and he watches them all the time.

I have a feeling he is going to like the Mega Disasters series that is going to be starting. He is fascinated by tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis - anything showing the incredible power of mother nature.

4. And before that , yesterday they had the states. Also good
but the right wing nutso in this country are gonna write to the History Channel and say they are spreading "librul" propaganda. Everyone knows the Universe revolves around the Earth.

5. The series makes the point very well that Earth is insignificant relative to the whole
I hope there are lots of fundies watching, maybe it'll snap them back into reality for at least a day.

If there is a God, Earth would be the least of his/her worries. It'd be like a chemist being concerned with one atom in a reaction involving trillions of molecules.
