Despite the GAO report saying that the surge has failed, despite
the $200 million per day costs, despite the one million dead Iraqis,
and despite the fact that Osoma bin Laden is still not accounted for
6 years after 9/11 I have little doubt that enough dems will capitulate
on Iraq that the madness will keep going on and on.

9. that is excellent!
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards have suggested that there is little difference among us on Iraq. This is not true: I am the only leading Democratic candidate committed to getting all our troops out and doing so quickly.

In the most recent debate, I asked the other candidates how many troops they would leave in Iraq and for what purposes. I got no answers. The American people need answers. If we elect a president who thinks that troops should stay in Iraq for years, they will stay for years -- a tragic mistake.

Clinton, Obama and Edwards reflect the inside-the-Beltway thinking that a complete withdrawal of all American forces somehow would be "irresponsible." On the contrary, the facts suggest that a rapid, complete withdrawal -- not a drawn-out, Vietnam-like process -- would be the most responsible and effective course of action.

Those who think we need to keep troops in Iraq misunderstand the Middle East. I have met and negotiated successfully with many regional leaders, including Saddam Hussein. I am convinced that only a complete withdrawal can sufficiently shift the politics of Iraq and its neighbors to break the deadlock that has been killing so many people for so long.

6. I think the House will cave again...
But I'm hoping that more GOP Senators stand up and demand for redeployment.

There was a report recently that some German physicists may have broken the speed of light. As fast as that is, it's not nearly as fast as the speed with which our Dem congress caves to Bush.

Well, on the Senate side, I'm going to take a wild guess here.
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 09:14 AM by Zodiak Ironfist
Well, actually an educated guess based on a couple of years of data I have collected.

Lincoln (Arkansas)
Salazar (Colorado)
Pryor (Arkansas)
Nelson (Florida)
Landrieu (Louisianna)
Nelson (Nebraska)

I would bet you that at least two of these 6 will jump ship or signal to Reid they will jump ship and force Reid to capitulate. In the Senate, it doesn't take many, and Leiberman is a shoe-in for keeping the war going. Each of these senators sides with the Democrats less than 30% of the time on big issues....and often take turns where just enough of them jump ship to ruin it for the entire party EVERY time.

We would all be wise to learn where the stink comes from in our own party and then do something about it rather than make excuses or damn the party as a whole.
