Call Congress on Tuesday
The U.S. House of Representatives begins a debate on Iraq policy on Tuesday, February 13th. Democrats.com and AfterDowningStreet.org are joining with United for Peace and Justice, Progressive Democrats of America, and other groups in creating a national call in day on Tuesday. Our simple message is "De-Escalate, Investigate." Ask your Congress Member to oppose the escalation and support Woolsey's, McGovern's, or Nadler's bill to stop funding the war and bring our troops home safely. And tell your Congress Member you want an investigation into the lies that were used to launch this war.
Phone and fax numbers for your Congress Member:
http://democrats.com/congressAlso please call Senator Carl Levin and thank him for the hearing he held on Friday at which the Inspector General of the Pentagon admitted that the Pentagon had cooked the intelligence to help start the war. Republican committee members complained that the Inspector General had not interviewed Stephen Hadley, Scooter Libby, or Condoleezza Rice, and Levin said not to worry, that he would question them. Encourage him to send the subpoenas now, and to include Cheney!
Senator Carl Levin: (202) 224-6221.

Impeach Cheney First
The trial of Scooter Libby has produced overwhelming evidence that Vice President Cheney personally led the campaign to attack Joe Wilson through the media. This "get Wilson" campaign included telling numerous reporters that Wilson was sent to Niger by his wife Valerie Plame, a key CIA operative fighting the spread of weapons of mass destruction. Plame's "outing" actually exposed her entire covert network, at tremendous cost to the CIA's secret war against terrorism. If America is in a generational "war on terror" as Bush and Cheney insist, then Cheney's action was criminal negligence at best, and arguably treason.
Cheney was a key architect of the illegal and disastrous invasion of Iraq. Behind the scenes, Cheney was in charge of assembling bogus "evidence" of weapons of mass destruction, including visiting the CIA personally to intimidate skeptical analysts. In public, Cheney uttered the Administration's most egregious and bald-faced lies, especially about Iraq's non-existent nuclear program.
Congress must begin impeachment proceedings against Vice President Cheney. Sign the petition to Impeach Cheney First:

Student Strike Against the War: Feb. 15
Students at UC-Santa Barbara have initiated a one day student strike against the war on February 15th. Students at Columbia University, UC-Berkeley, Sonoma State, Occidental College, Fordham University, San Francisco State, University of North Carolina - Greensboro; and Columbia College (Chicago) are planning rallies, walk-outs, and/or strikes on their campuses February 15th.
February 15th marks the 4th anniversary of when millions of people came out around the world to protest Bush's planned war on Iraq. In the wake of Bush's escalation of a war that has already caused the deaths of 655,000 Iraqis and over 3,000 US soldiers, and threats to attack Iran, this student strike is urgently needed, and must spread to other campuses quickly. Now is not the time to be waiting for Congress to make slow incremental steps towards some eventual phased withdrawal. Now is the time for millions of people to get out and demand an end to the war immediately and the Bush administration be impeached for war crimes.

MARCH FORTH! March 4th
A National Day of Dialogue, Action & Celebration
"We the People," as the authors of the progressive story that is America, will gather under the mandate to "create a more perfect union" and chart an aspirational course towards greater justice, domestic tranquility, the common defense, and liberty for all.
March 4, 1789, was the day that the US Constitution went into effect. Today, "March Forth," a fortunate pun is also a call to action. In a time of polarization, abandonment of founding principles, and the apparent inability of elected officials to address the most dire crisis of our time "We the People" must MarchForth!
Here are resources to plan an event and a map of events already planned:
